Homburg hats, the forerunner to fedoras, have begun growing in popularity once more in recent decades. The renewal of interest in this particular style of hat stemmed from its appearance in the 1972 film The Godfather, which gave homburg hats the new alias of Godfather hats.
This style is marked by the deep ridge running over the top, known as a center crease crown, as well as the slightly upturned brim that runs all the way around the length of the hat. This base is normally surrounded with a dark grosgrain hatband, and is normally made out of dark wool or fur felt for a soft and svelte appearance. Many homburgs also display a small arrangement of feathers or other decor just to add a little spice to the hat.
